Extroverts are always giving introverts a bad rap for always being “too quiet” or needing to “come out of their shell.” But there are plenty of people in the world who aren’t either one; they’re a mix. Read below to see if you are an introverted extrovert!
1. You’re shy or just quiet around new people.
You’re not necessarily shy, but you are reserved. You don’t feel comfortable around new people and have a hard time starting conversations. You feel like you’re being judged and watched. Even the thought of talking to someone can make you feel nervous or anxious.
While introverts enjoy spending time alone and often hate small talk, they don’t necessarily dislike socializing or other people in general — they just need some time to warm up first!
2. You feel drained after a long day of socializing.
When you’re out of the house and surrounded by people, it’s easy to feel drained. It’s a lot of work for introverted extroverts to make small talk with strangers or engage in conversation with someone they don’t know well. You might be able to pull off a few minutes of small talk before feeling like you need time alone.
You’ll also need time to recharge after socializing. Think about all that goes into being social: listening, engaging in conversation, thinking about what you want to say and how you want to say it, processing what happened during the interaction — all these things take energy! You’ll want some downtime when you come home so that your brain has space and time for everything it just processed.
